We seem to all be suffering a common problem these days, WHERE DID OUR LIVES GO? Our brains seem to still be 18, but our bodies are talking a different language. Sarah Orne Jewett puts it much more eloquently than do I:

“Neither of my companions was troubled by her burden of years. I hoped in my heart that I might be like them as I lived on into age, and then smiled to think that I too was no longer very young. So we always keep the same hearts, though our outer framework fails and shows the touch of time.”

KIRKWOOD MUSICIAN MEL BAY RECEIVES RECOGNITION

Our own famous Mel Bay, musician and world-renown music publisher, is to receive a star on the St. Louis Walk of Fame on June 30th. For Mr. Bay's story and the details about the Star go here, and congratulations to the members of the Bay family for this wonderful honor. I'm sure MANY of us in KHS65 have some connection in our past to Mel Bay's Music store in Kirkwood. I remember the trips there with my mom to purchase my piano books when I was taking lessons from Mrs. Lane, my 4th grade teacher at Robinson. And somewhere in the recesses of my mind I seem to have a memory of a venture there for one of my kids....piano books for Alexis or a violin rental for Matt??? Fuzzy memories....
