We seem to all be suffering a common problem these days, WHERE DID OUR LIVES GO? Our brains seem to still be 18, but our bodies are talking a different language. Sarah Orne Jewett puts it much more eloquently than do I:

“Neither of my companions was troubled by her burden of years. I hoped in my heart that I might be like them as I lived on into age, and then smiled to think that I too was no longer very young. So we always keep the same hearts, though our outer framework fails and shows the touch of time.”

BELOVED CLASSMATE RIC PORTE HAS DIED DESPITE HIS VALIANT FIGHT TO STAY WITH US

My heart is heavy, Ric died on the operating table on July 18th after having another aortic aneurysm incident, despite the doctors' ten hour long valiant efforts to save him; his body just couldn't keep going.  He will be missed by sooo many - he was a friend to sooo many of us, active in our reunion activities for many years and frequent moving, funny, engaging, nostalgic Facebook Posts enjoyed by so many of us.  Tributes are flowing, tears are flowing, memories are flowing, respect and admiration for Ric are evident from near and far.  May he be sailing with the Gods and his beloved son, and others of our classmates whom he knew and cared about, and shared with for so long.  RIP our beloved friend, go well.

  1. Sure miss Ric's presence and posts on FB. He had such a great outlook on life even through challenges. He had a way of connecting people that might not otherwise have gotten connected. I think he would for sure get "The Good and Faithful Servant Award"
