We seem to all be suffering a common problem these days, WHERE DID OUR LIVES GO? Our brains seem to still be 18, but our bodies are talking a different language. Sarah Orne Jewett puts it much more eloquently than do I:

“Neither of my companions was troubled by her burden of years. I hoped in my heart that I might be like them as I lived on into age, and then smiled to think that I too was no longer very young. So we always keep the same hearts, though our outer framework fails and shows the touch of time.”

Let's Blog KHS65!

I've been saying for a long time, we need a KHS65 blog to help with INTERACTIVE communication and on a whim I just sat down and started. I imagine it will change format, content and maybe even location, but for now it's a start. When I figure out how to get the word out and learn how we can interact on it, I'll let everyone know. Meantime be sure to email me at leslie@khs65.com if you haven't received an email from us in awhile, we need to get our email and other contacts list updated. We can build this together...your input will be sooo welcome, as soon as we figure it all out! Well, it's several hours later, and we're practicing. You can make comments to existing POSTS; you can respond anonymously or as yourself, with or without a Google account but we recommend setting up a free Google account if you don't already have one, probably will make interacting with the blog much easier. Read the POST then go below it and click on the word COMMENT and you'll see the string...and you can add your own response. Explore and see if it doesn't come pretty easily. Please do update us with your current contact info so we can keep our database up to date! Click on COMMENTS to see what responses the various POSTS elicit. It's really easy once you do it a few times!

Still learning, please sign up as a FOLLOWER. This allows others to see who is joining in. YOU make the rules when you sign in this way, fill out a profile as the one thing classmates are the MOST interested in usually is information about other classmates - reconnecting is BIG at this stage of our lives. You can state how you want your profile to be viewed, responses, etc. You can read the posts, comment, ignore, whatever. But sharing info is what we're trying to be all about. So, sign up and see what happens!-- You can ALWAYS just ignore it all - until that one long lost friend pops up and makes it all worthwhile!

  1. AH HA, it works! If you go to Blog Archive on the left side and click the top one, Let's Blog KSH65!, you get the box where you can post your comment. I'd love to see us share news, views, information and whatever else is relevant and appropriate with one another. You're free to comment, not comment, read, or not read but please do join us! I'll invite all the email addresses I have on file, and will ask that you send me your email address and contact info for any KHS65 classmate you know who would welcome being part of our group. THANKS!

  3. Well, this is pretty slick, Leslie! Although, you know how computer illiterate I am, so I have no idea what I'm doing! Congrats to Jim Olson and Karen Schurig's brother for the Hall of Fame!

Hope the rest of you will join in on this thing so maybe I can learn something along the way -- my children and grandchildren will be so proud of me!

  6. Leslie, I like this format a lot. It gives everyone a chance to just read or to communicate. Great job pushing this forward. You're the best we got at doing this. I hope when I'm 97 and you're 97 that we will be the last two people bloging on this website. Wouldn't that be a blast? Craig C.

  7. OK - I think I will try to get the ball rolling here and post something personal. Maybe others will do so also. And, what better topic to write about than me?!?! HAHAHA

I just got back from a wonderful cruise out of San Diego to the Mexican Riviera. There were a total of 13 of us traveling together. We have traveled with this group before (3 other couples) and they are all musicians. Since they all live in San Diego, they brought along their instruments (except for the drummer - go figure) and in the evenings we would sit out on the adjoining balconies and have an impromptu music session. The other 5 were new comers to our group, so new friends were made. Our stops included Acapulco, Ixtapa, and Manzanillo. The best stop was Ixtapa where we went zip lining! What a rush that was!!! And, I survived. Afterwards we celebrated at a wonderful outdoor restaurant where margaritas were the drink of the afternoon. In Acapulco we went to the beach where the movie "10" was filmed, and in the evening we saw the cliff divers. Those guys are just flat out nuts!!!

We are planning on going back to San Diego for July 4th weekend to hook up with these guys and in fact staying with "our new best friends" LOL.

So, here it is March. I am tan, happy and doing well. How about the rest of you?? Can't wait to hear what everyone has been up to.

  8. Hey Craig, we're still testing this out, not sure exactly how every tool works, but I'm sure we'll get the hang of it. I have long dreamed of a KHS65 tontine, but when we're 97 we won't need the money, so maybe our blogging will be our tontine! We'll be reallly lucky if we can still read and write by 97. Has anyone ever wondered who the last living KHS65 member will be? Kind of a grotesque thought, probably Peggy Kramer because she is always at sea, the air is probably better there! If we ever do a cruise for a Reunion, Peggy will just HAVE to be the organizer of it, she KNOWS how to cruise!!

  9. This is my first time on the blog. How fun! I have a new neighbor...We just found out we are both 65 grads from Kirkwood...He went to a private
school but has lots of friends from our class. He is especially looking for Randy Smith. I remember the name but don't have a clue where he might be. Does anyone know anything about Randy Smith?

  10. Joyce, I don't have an address on Rand Smith, but maybe someone else will come forward. Might check El Paso, TX as he was there in the past, also he goes by Rand now I believe, maybe not Randy. Stay tuned, much more coming soon!

  11. Oh, I meant to ask who your neighbor is, perhaps others know him. Would he like to be in our database to hear about our class "doings" and reunion? If so, let me know...you can email me at leslie@khs65.com...
