We seem to all be suffering a common problem these days, WHERE DID OUR LIVES GO? Our brains seem to still be 18, but our bodies are talking a different language. Sarah Orne Jewett puts it much more eloquently than do I:

“Neither of my companions was troubled by her burden of years. I hoped in my heart that I might be like them as I lived on into age, and then smiled to think that I too was no longer very young. So we always keep the same hearts, though our outer framework fails and shows the touch of time.”

GIL SYLVESTER passes away

I just now received word from Lee Walters that our classmate Gil Sylvester passed away last night (12/5/12).  Gil was suffering from cancer of the tongue and throat and had been undergoing treatment since last year.  Please see my earlier post with photo about Gil.  Gil and Sylvia have been staunch KHS65 supporters, attending reunions, staying in touch and being our friends.  Our sympathies go to Sylvia and their families.  Lee tells me they had just closed on a new home on Monday, so perhaps Gil's death was caused by some other unexpected factor.  Sylvia can be reached at 60783 River Bend Drive, Bend, OR 97702.
May he rest in peace. ~A bit later, I received word from Gil's lifelong friend, KHS65 member Bob Leonard,  who said that Gil & Sylvia were going to remodel the new home they'd just bought.  He must have been doing better to be planning this work.  Bob visited them in July and Gil was wearing a KHS shirt then!  Bob did not have any further details at this time.

  1. My sympathies to Gil's family. What a wonderful guy...we were lucky to have him in our class.
