Another of our sweet girls gone too soon - resting in peace and love

Dear friends, please know Cindy was so well loved by her family, her three great children and her grands.  Another of our girls gone before she should have been.  She and former hubby Paul Silman of our class raised three wonderful, smart children invested in their lives and the world around them.  I have had the pleasure of knowing all of them and knew instantly they would fare well in our world.  Paul's mother was a friend of my children's paternal grandmother, they didn't live close in their later lives, but were there for one another when it mattered, that's just the kind of family they are.  May Cindy rest in the peace and love she earned. 

Cynthia Ann Lapides

Lapides, Cynthia Ann, 76, of Kirkwood passed away peacefully on Feb. 24 with her family by her side. 

She was born May 4, 1947, to Lewis Eugene and Gloria Ann Lapides (nee Stein) in the orange groves of Redlands, California. Cindy grew up in Kirkwood, graduating from Kirkwood High School and Monticello College. 

She was mother to Miles Silman (Alycia), Christopher Silman (Karla), and Annie (Adam) Lewis; and beloved Nana of five — Wren, John, Nora, Crosby, and Lola — by whom she will be dearly missed. She was devoted to family, particularly her three brothers, John, Tom and Bob. 

Master Gardener and proprietor of the Secret Gardener, she had a deep love for plants and the power of the garden. With energy in abundance, she loved camping, canoeing, her horses and golden retrievers.

Please join us for a celebration of Cindy’s life on Friday, May 3, 2024, at First Congregational Church of Webster Groves at 10 a.m.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Missouri Botanical Garden or The Saint Louis Zoo.
